No. True Performance is a chiropractic- and rehabilitation-led clinic. Dr. McWhorter is a Doctor of Chiropractic, and we coordinate care with your physician, who stays in charge of diagnosis, prescriptions and medical clearance.
Your first visit is about 90 minutes, plus data and history gathering. It includes a physical examination of the nervous system and may include qEEG brain mapping, so recommendations rest on your own findings.
GyroStim uses a computer-controlled, multi-axis rotational chair to combine precise movement with visual, cognitive, and sensorimotor tasks. Unlike balance exercises performed on a stationary surface, the direction, speed, and intensity of each rotation can be closely adjusted. GyroStim is available at our Rancho Santa Fe office only.
Neurofeedback records electrical brainwave activity through sensors placed on the scalp and translates it into real-time visual or auditory feedback. This allows patients to practice producing more regulated patterns of activity during guided sessions. The process is non-invasive and doesn’t deliver electrical stimulation to the brain.
Yes. A detailed pre-season baseline test records how an athlete's brain functions before the season. If a head injury happens, a re-test gives a comparison that informs a return-to-play decision made with the athlete's physician and the school or league protocol.
