Founder

Dr. Jeff McWhorter, D.C.

Chiropractor and Functional Neurology Expert

The idea for True Performance grew from Dr. McWhorter’s own experience with six severe head traumas. He has been the patient and the doctor, and he built the clinic around one idea: real, lasting performance starts with the nervous system, not the symptom in front of you.

He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Logan University, and before founding True Performance he served as a chiropractic consultant to the Denver Broncos.

About the Newport Beach office

Before you call

Who does what in your recovery

Orthopedic surgeon

Diagnoses and repairs structural injuries with imaging, injections and surgery.

Sports-medicine physician

Medical diagnosis, imaging, medication and return-to-play clearance.

Physical therapist

Restores strength, mobility and function through guided exercise.

True Performance

Chiropractic and neurological rehabilitation: vestibular, eye-movement and balance work, GyroStim, neurofeedback and hyperbaric oxygen, coordinated with your physician.

Is True Performance a medical doctor’s office?

No. True Performance is a chiropractic- and rehabilitation-led clinic. We do not replace your physician; we coordinate with them, and your care plan is built around their diagnosis and any clearance they give.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit includes a neurological examination of about 90 minutes, plus data and history gathering. It may include qEEG brain mapping, so the plan starts from your own results.

How is GyroStim different from other balance therapy?

GyroStim uses a computer-controlled, multi-axis rotational chair to combine precise movement with visual, cognitive and sensorimotor tasks. Unlike balance exercises on a stationary surface, the direction, speed and intensity of each rotation can be closely adjusted. GyroStim is available at our Rancho Santa Fe clinic only.

How does neurofeedback work?

Neurofeedback records electrical brainwave activity through sensors on the scalp and turns it into real-time visual or audio feedback, so you can practice more regulated patterns during guided sessions. It is non-invasive and does not deliver electrical stimulation to the brain.

Your brain is part of your game.
